Why should I hire TFT Interiors Design Studio to design my home?

For more than 30 years, we have assisted residents on the Palos Verdes Peninsula and throughout the South Bay in creating the home of their dreams. Sally Harris, owner and principal designer, brings her creativity and high quality standards to every project. It is our goal at TFT Interiors Design Studio to help make your house your perfect home.


What do I need to know about the initial consultation? Is there a fee?

Our initial one-hour consultation is complimentary. We consider it a mutual interview. It is a time for us to get to know you and your needs but it is also important for you to get to know us. The designer-client relationship is a very important one. The client needs to be very comfortable communicating their likes and dislikes with their designer for a beneficial partnership to result.


How do you charge for your residential interior design work?

We offer many ways to get started on your project. At the initial consultation, we will evaluate the scope of work and offer suggestions as to what would be most beneficial for you. For more information, please see our Design Fees page.


What size project does TFT Interiors Design Studio normally do? Can I start with one room?

We can help you with projects of any size. Whether you are considering a remodel, purchasing a new home, or just redecorating one room, we want to help you create a shared vision of what your new space can be. We will then help take you from that vision to your newly designed home.


I have been hearing a lot about “green design.” What does it mean and do you offer that service?

We have many “green” products available. Many of our furniture, fabric, lighting and wall covering vendors offer eco-friendly products. Sally Harris is a member of the Sustainable Furnishings Council, an organization that helps designers, architects, manufacturers and retailers stay informed about industry leaders in the areas of eco-friendly and sustainable products. We offer many products that are certified for better indoor air quality to not only create a new look, but a healthy environment as well.


We are thinking of remodeling our house. When should we call an Interior Designer?

It is best to call an interior designer such as TFT Interiors Design Studio as early as possible in the planning stages. We will bring knowledge and experience to the decisions you will need to make regarding space planning, lighting, plumbing, etc. Thinking a project through and having a clear vision or plan will help avoid unnecessary expenditures. Our goals are always to make sure your needs are met and that you are completely satisfied.


Do you work with contractors and subcontractors or do I need to find my own?

We can recommend subcontractors we work with on a regular basis, and we are happy to work with a builder or contractor of your choice. We can help you with re-upholstering, custom window treatments, carpet and wallpaper installation and custom-made furniture. TFT Interiors Design Studio has been serving the South Bay for more than 30 years and we are confident that our suppliers provide fine quality workmanship.


May we use the design services of TFT Interiors Design Studio without making purchases from your company?

Of course—purchasing products from our extensive offerings is not a requirement to work with TFT Interiors Design Studio. We use our expertise to help you plan your environment to suit your needs. Many of our clients own fine furnishings and choose to update their look or just “freshen up” by installing new floorcoverings, wall coverings, window treatments and accessories. TFT Interiors Design Studio does enjoy many longstanding relationships with fine quality manufacturers in the home furnishings industry. We buy factory direct and that allows you the opportunity to purchase the items you may need at very reasonable prices.


Are your fees negotiable?

No, though we can modify your scope of work or phase projects. We know our cost of doing business, and for us to give you the best possible service, we include a reasonable profit in our fees. In order for us to provide the best possible client experience, we must run a profitable business.
